Joy Shigaki brings 25 years of community development, fundraising, capacity building, civic engagement experience in the non-profit, government, and community-based arenas. She recently served as the Conservancy’s Director of Campaign and Fundraising Initiatives leading to the successful completion of the $98 million Presidio Tunnel Tops Campaign. This new, world class parkland will open in the Fall of 2021.
Previously, Joy lived in Brooklyn and worked in New York City as Director of Advancement for the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, Senior Director of Advancement for Episcopal Relief and Development, and Director of Development for Coro New York Leadership Center. Early in her career, she worked for King County Executive Ron Sims as a core team member in Seattle.
Joy is a seasoned community organizer having served with various social and racial justice, civil rights, and faith-based organizations on the local, national, and international levels. An Oakland resident, she is still learning about and connecting to the East Bay's deep history, rich culture, and community. Joy is often found hiking in the regional parks and national parks with easy reach.
