Join the Nature Journal Club for a 1.5 hour workshop on an important fundamental skill in building your field sketching skills! October's workshop is taught by guest instructor and tracker Marley Peifer and will focus on how to add tracking details to your nature journal.

Led by one of our talented park volunteer photographers, this class is for those who have an interest in getting better photographs with their cameras. It is designed to take beginners who are using the “Auto” mode most of the time and want to use the other features to improve their results.

The Golden Gate Raptor Observatory is collaborating with Park Academy to bring you a field experience during the fall migration! Join Allen Fish (Director of the Golden Gate Raptor Obervatory) for this special outing to practice your hawk identification!

This class will have two parts. The first part will be a quick class about herbaria, what they are, how they are used, and a demonstration for how to create herbarium sheets. The second part will entail the students making their own herbarium sheets using plants pre-pressed from Alcatraz gardens. Finally, there will be an optional section where people can bring their own books or other pressing materials and learn how to not-so-scientifically press plants for their own enjoyment.
