Meet the new interns of San Mateo Park Stewardship

Share

Here in San Mateo Park Stewardship we were sad to say goodbye to Laurasia and Samuel, our interns for the 2018-2019 season. But that means we get to welcome new interns for the 2019-2020 season! Meet Reema and Daniel, in their own words, below.

Reema Garabadu:

A San Mateo Park Stewardship intern smiles at the camera
Hello everyone! My name is Reema and I'm from Marietta, Georgia. After spending most of my undergrad on our campus farm, I was certain I wanted a job that would keep me outside and engaged in my community. I look forward to working in protected lands, learning more about conservation and sustainable practices, and forming a new community in the Bay Area. I am a heliophile, amateur gardener, national parks lover, anachronistic film enthusiast, and professional Spotify playlist-maker. I'm thrilled to be a part of this team and can't wait to meet and start working with you all!

Daniel Joannes:

My name is Daniel Joannes and I am a recent graduate of the University Of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where I studied forest ecology and restoration. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have always enjoyed getting outside in nature to explore. I am passionate about rock climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding and more recently, surfing. My best friend jokes that all I need to be happy is the chance to "play" outside in good company. I really enjoy taking new people and sharing experiences with them in the natural world. I also have a passion for caring for these special places that I get to get out in. Working for the last few summers on prairie restoration, I have found a love for things such as plant identification, seed collection, and the process of restoring the land to a state that wildlife, plants and people alike can enjoy and thrive in. Over the next year I am very excited to get to know the awesome community surrounding the Golden Gate National Parks, and work together in the many different ecosystems that make it up.
