A sunny day over Crissy Field Marsh.

When: Friday, June 6th, 2025, 12–4 pm

Where: Presidio of San Francisco; specific meeting location will be in the confirmation email after registering. Registration is required.

We're excited to kick off a special summer series of Belonging in Nature: Queer & Trans Community Day land stewardship programs (June-September) in collaboration with four amazing artists, chefs, and land stewards. Our first in the series is taking place Friday June 6th, 12-4pm, in the Presidio with special guest Thomas Abbott, who will lead us in an indigo dying workshop! We'll also be caring for the land at this program, starting the day by working in a marsh in the Presidio to care for our local native plants, and then transition into Thomas's workshop.

Thomas is a Black farmer, gardener, community organizer, and activist who uses his horticultural skills and ancestry to drive social and cultural change. In this workshop, we will begin to discuss the intricate, rich, and often controversial history of one of humanity's most desired colors: Blue, a color that is naturally quite rare. We will be learning a method and technique that originates from the Western Coast of Africa.

Please contact community@parksconservancy.org with any questions. This event is open to all community members.
